Katie Price was furious to discover that an image of her has been used to promote the English Defence League (EDL).

The glamour model was stunned that a photo she posed for with a fan had made its way on to the right-wing group’s Facebook page.

Katie Price has denied supporting the EDL (PA)

What Katie did not know when she agreed to have the picture taken was that the admirer in question was the EDL’s secretive leader Tommy Johnson.

He later uploaded it on to the social networking site with the caption ‘Jordan supports the EDL’.

Katie was alerted to the photo and offensive claim via Twitter and immediately denied having any links with the organisation.

‘That’s the trouble when I do pics I don’t know where they end up. NO I don’t support such group,’ she tweeted.

A spokesman for Katie’s management company later said: ‘She is not and will not be associated with the English Defence League. Kate had no reason to suspect he had any connection with any group.’

They added that Katie’s lawyers would take action to try to force the EDL to remove the photo from its Facebook page.

Chelsea and Arsenal leave it late as Man City slip up

Chelsea had to come from behind to defeat Blackburn, Arsenal also left it late to beat West Ham and Manchester United beat Tottenham Hotspur but Manchester City lost to Wolves.

Fulham returned to winning ways by overcoming Wigan, while Everton continued their fine form with a narrow victory over Stoke.

Carlo Ancelotti’s Chelsea looked in trouble early on at Ewood Park but hit back to prevail 2-1 and maintain their five-point advantage at the top of the table.

Blackburn were rewarded for an enterprising start with the opening goal of the game after 21 minutes, Benjani winning an aerial duel against John Terry to get on the end of an El-Hadji Diouf cross.

But Ancelotti had warned on the eve of the clash that there was still more to come from his Chelsea side and their equaliser before half-time was skilfully constructed, with Didier Drogba heading a Florent Malouda pass down for Nicolas Anelka to provide the finish.

It appeared as though the winning goal might never arrive but the Blues finally broke through six minutes from time when Branislav Ivanovic nodded home following good work by Yuri Zhirkov.

Arsenal kept the pressure on Chelsea courtesy of a 1-0 triumph over bottom club West Ham, although again the outcome was in doubt right until final whistle.

It was a familiar tale for Arsenal supporters in the first half at Emirates Stadium as their team played with panache but lacked end product against a Hammers side showing resilience in defence and an occasional threat of their own in attack.

Samir Nasri then struck the crossbar with a ferocious free-kick after the break, while Theo Walcott was also denied by the foot of the post moments after coming on as a substitute and Andrey Arshavin’s appeals for a penalty fell on deaf ears following a seemingly innocuous brush with Manuel Da Costa.

Robert Green also played his part with a series of saves before Alex Song popped up at the far post to bundle in a Gael Clichy cross with only two minutes remaining.

Manchester United maintained their pursuit of the leaders with a 2-0 victory overTottenham, but were aided by a controversial second goal at Old Trafford.

The hosts made the breakthrough just past the half-hour mark when Nani whipped in a free-kick from the right and Nemanja Vidic’s run was not tracked as the Red Devils captain guided a header inside the far post.

The second goal came five minutes from the end when Nani side-footed the ball into the net, but before Spurs keeper Heurelho Gomes had restarted play from a free-kick.

Manchester City were unable to bounce back from their defeat at home to Arsenal last weekend as they slipped to a 2-1 loss against Wolves at Molineux.

Emmanuel Adebayor, starting up front alongside summer signing Mario Balotelli in the absence of Carlos Tevez, put City ahead from the penalty spot following a foul by Richard Stearman on David Silva.

Wolves drew level on the half-hour mark thanks to a fine strike by Nenad Milijas and then took the lead early in the second half when Dave Edwards scored on the rebound after Kevin Doyle’s initial effort had been blocked.

City battled in vain to find a way back into the match but Wolves held firm for their first win since the opening day of the campaign.

A Clint Dempsey double inspired Fulham to only their second Premier League victory of the season as Wigan’s recent revival came to a halt with a 2-0 reverse at Craven Cottage.

Dempsey headed in Carlos Salcido’s left-wing delivery to give Fulham a well-earned advantage in the 30th minute, before finding the net with a neat shot from Chris Baird’s cross just prior to the interval.

Stoke slipped to their third straight defeat as Everton extended their unbeaten run to five games with a hard-fought 1-0 victory at Goodison Park.

There was nothing to separate the sides until Yakubu Aiyegbeni smashed home from a tight angle midway through the second half after Tim Cahill had hit the post.

Cristiano Ronaldo has backed Wayne Rooney’s decision to commit his long-term future to Manchester United.

Rooney appeared set to move away from Old Trafford when it emerged last week that he had refused a contract offer from United.

He released a statement expressing concern about the “future squad” and the “continued ability of the club to attract the top players in the world”, but went on to sign a five-year deal after negotiations resumed.

Ronaldo’s departure from United to Real Madrid in 2009 brought in an £80million fee but saw the club lose a key asset, and Chelsea went on to win the domestic league and FA Cup double as Sir Alex Ferguson’s side had to make do with a Carling Cup victory.

Madrid were one of the clubs linked with a possible move for Rooney had his relationship with United disintegrated to the point where it could not be repaired.

However, Ronaldo thinks Rooney is at the ideal club.

Ronaldo said on Sky Sports News: “Rooney knows what’s best for his career so we have to respect his decisions.

“I think the best club for him is in Manchester, of course.”

Ashley Cole is trying to get the number of a woman who looks just like his ex-wife Cheryl that he’s seen on TV.

The England footballer has set his sights on 90210 star Jessica Lowndes after seeing her appear on TV while she’s been in the UK promoting her new singing career.

She even appeared on one of his favourite shows, Soccer AM, and the footballer has made a few calls to try and get hold of her number.

A source said to UK newspaper The Sun: “Ashley saw her on TV and liked what he saw. He has connections in the industry and wanted to get in touch. You can see why he likes her – she looks like Cheryl.”

X Factor favourite Matt Cardle has dismissed reports he is back with his ex-girlfriend as “totally wrong”.

Matt Cardle has insisted he is single. X Factor favourite Matt Cardle has dismissed reports he is back with his ex-girlfriend as “totally wrong”.

Rumours were rife after pictures appeared in the press showing the pair together, but the 27-year-old painter and decorator said he is on the market.

He said: “I’m single. It is totally wrong but she is a lovely girl and we still talk to each other.”

He also praised his mentor Dannii Minogue, saying: “She is really, really caring and supportive. She is always in contact to make sure we are happy with our songs.”

Matt, who is now 6-4 favourite to win the show, admitted it was “odd” being followed by crowds of screaming fans.

He said: “It’s a bit odd if I’m honest. It is a sign that they are enjoying what we are doing on the weekend.”

But Katie Waissel clearly has no such problems. The 24-year-old tweeted a message to fans on Friday, writing: “I’ll be back out again soon, I promise!! it’s so cute whenever u scream for One Direction I can’t help but scream with you lol!!xxx”

The 11 remaining contenders will perform in Saturday’s show with the results of the public vote unveiled on Sunday.

Charlie Sheen was found naked with cocaine smeared on his face in a restaurant bathroom before he trashed his luxury hotel room earlier this week, a shocking new report alleges.

The actor is said to have gone missing at posh eatery Daniel in Manhattan just hours before his meltdown.

And when an aide went to look for the troubled Two And A Half Men star, he found him nude in the toilet.

“When the assistant opened the door, there was Charlie standing there naked with cocaine all over his face.

“He was delusional and just completely lost. Totally out of it,” a source said.

“The assistant helped Charlie get dressed in the bathroom,” the source told celebrity news website,

“Charlie was out of it. Gone. Just wasted. At that point the assistant steered him out of there and back to the hotel and the rest of the party came along.”

Sheen, 45, had been at the French restaurant with several pals, including porn star Capri Anderson, who was later found naked in his suite at the Plaza Hotel.

Cops were called to the Fifth Avenue hotel early on Tuesday morning after Sheen allegedly went ballistic and caused $7,000 USD worth of damage.

Sheen’s spokesman said he had no comment on the report.

How can we be so cheap, but still professional and reliable?

Wayne Rooney’s ankle was injured in training on Tuesday following a tackle by Paul Scholes, according to reports.

Wayee Rooney injured by Paul ScholesAs if Sir Alex Ferguson’s extraordinary press briefing wasn’t sufficient backpage fodder for one day, Rooney was stretchered off from training just hours before the Manchester United boss confirmed the striker wanted to leave Old Trafford.

Other than ruling the player out of the tie with Bursaspor, United have given no indication as to the severity of Rooney’s latest ankle problem.

However, The Times reports that ‘Rooney was later spotted walking on crutches’ and claims the injury was a result of ‘a tackle by Paul Scholes’.

How do you respond to your best player saying he wants to leave?

Why, by making a bid for your local rivals’ best player, of course.

The Daily Telegraph, usually that most demure of journals, goes balls out with the claim that Manchester United are all set to make a bid for Fernando Torres.

Oh yes.

The paper reports that the club have been given ‘encouragement’ that Torres might want to leave Anfield, and will ‘test their resolve’ (The Telegraph have been taking tips from the tabs here) with a bid as early as January.

United are also looking at both Karim Benzema, with the Glazers ‘acutely aware of the necessity to replace Wayne Rooney with another stellar name should the England forward leave.’

The Times are also turning their attentions to a replacement for Rooney, and come up with a couple of slightly less sensational candidates, but fine candidates nonetheless.

They report that Wolfsburg bruiser Edin Dzeko could ‘fit in well’ at Old Trafford, while Atletico Madrid’s Sergio Aguero could also be an option.

The paper also claims that a ‘safer alternative’ could be Fernando Llorente, although quite how a 25-year-old forward who has never played outside his home country and never in the Champions League could be described as a safe option is unclear.
